About Allied Universal
CONSHOHOCKEN, PA and SANTA ANA, CA, OCT. 4, 2018—Allied Universal, a leading facility services company and the largest security force in North America, received two Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs) at the Global Security Exchange (GSX) 2018, held Sept. 23-27 in Las Vegas. Honors included:
- Lifetime Achievement Award—Geoff Craighead, CPP, Vice President, Field Training & Development
- Outstanding Young Professional—Russell Mallette, CPP, Regional Training Director, Southwest
“Our honorees and their teams represent the best of the best in the physical security sector,” said Steve Jones, CEO of Allied Universal. “Their remarkable accomplishments embody our values of serving, securing and caring for our communities every day. We congratulate them and all of our 2018 award finalists.”
Craighead, 2013 Past President of ASIS International, earned the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for his remarkable tenure spanning three decades in security and his substantial impact on defining and driving standards in the sector. Craighead has expertise in security operations and crisis management and fire life safety operations of commercial high-rise facilities in North America and Hong Kong. He authored “High-Rise Security and Fire Life Safety,” now in its third edition. The comprehensive reference manual includes a review of the 9/11 terrorist attack on the twin towers in New York. In 1982, Craighead emigrated from Australia to California, joined ASIS International and became a Certified Protection Professional—a designation held by few. In his current role, he travels worldwide to conduct training lectures.
Outstanding Young Professional award recipient Mallette has 13 years of experience in security management, investigations and operations. He currently oversees field training for six states and manages Allied Universal’s regional firearms, defensive tactics and fire/life safety programs, which includes a comprehensive online emergency preparation service that helps customers plan and prepare building occupants for emergencies, disasters and safety issues of all types from fire-life safety to bomb threats to workplace violence. Like his mentor, Craighead, Mallette became CPP certified as well, and is a High-Rise/Fire Life Safety Consultant for the Los Angeles Fire Department—rarities for anyone before the age of 40. He also conducts active shooter preparedness training throughout his region in light of the changing security landscape.
Mallette, who is currently ASIS Assistant Regional Vice President, Region 1D, earned his B.A. in Communications from California State University Fresno, after participating on the NCAA Div.1 Men's Swim Team at California State University, Northridge.
The Outstanding Security Performance Awards recognize and reward companies and individuals across the security sector. The OSPAs are designed to be both independent and inclusive, providing an opportunity for outstanding performers, whether buyers or suppliers, to be recognized and their success to be celebrated.
